SAFETIS Outdoor Pan-Tilt

OUR PRODUCTS:

SAFETIS Outdoor Pan-Tilt

Detect Flare-ups before the fire starts

The SAFETIS Outdoor Pan-Tilt is specially designed to detect flare-up risk before a fire starts to burn. This component of the SAFETIS fire prevention system is intended for outdoor applications.

  • Machine vision
  • Process control
  • Automation
  • Metrology
  • Pyrometric functions
  • Temp. measurement

Excellent IP67 coverage

The Outdoor Pan-Tilt’s case protects the thermal camera from rapidly changing outdoor conditions. Inside its durable shield lies a fully radiometric instrument. The camera comes in two versions: the standard edition, with a resolution of 336×256 pixels, and the premium edition, which boasts 640×512 pixels. The camera has an image frequency of 9 Hz, 30 Hz or 60 Hz.

High temperature sensitivity

A fully radiometric thermal camera, the SAFETIS Outdoor Pan-Tilt automatically detects the risk of a flare-up. Its exceptionally high thermal sensitivity – over 50mK – ensures a rapid response to any change in surface temperature.

Surface temperature information is critical for the evaluation of flare-up risk because temperature trends are the primary basis for flare-up risk detection. Due to the SAFETIS Outdoor Pan-Tilt’s high temperature sensitivity, the system records even minimal temperature changes. Furthermore, the system’s intelligence eliminates many of the false alarms that are common in fire prevention systems.

Built-in webserver

Each SAFETIS thermal camera connects through a built-in web-server. The server provides a basic image stream as well as a suite of tools for advanced configuration and parameter setting.

The multi-camera SAFETIS system can be connected through the SAFETIS Control Unit. This unit enables the interconnection of up to 16 SAFETIS thermal cameras within any construction. Cameras can be configured from this central unit. More information about the central unit can be found on the separate product page for the SAFETIS Control Unit.

DIGITAL OUTPUTS & TEMPERATURE RANGE

In the event of an alarm, the SAFETIS thermal camera alerts the master system through one of seven digital outputs. Individual outputs can be assigned to various events, areas, and types of alarms.
SAFETIS thermal cameras come with two temperature ranges: -25 °C to 150 °C (-13 °F to 302 °F) and -40 °C to +550 °C (-40 °F to 1022 °F). With an external filter, these ranges can be modified to span from +50 °C to 1,000 °C (+122 °F to 1832 °F) or +400 °C to 1,500 °C (752 °F to 2732 °F)

Wide range of lenses

To make it easier for users to modify their thermal camera for each new application, the SAFETIS Indoor comes with four lenses. These lenses offer fields of view of 69°x56°, 45°x37° and 32°x26° for the 640×512 px version, and 45°x35°, 35°x27°, 25°x19° and 17°x13° for the 336×256 px version. Depending on the lens used, the camera can be configured to monitor distant objects as well as larger areas that are close at hand, such as warehouses.

The size of the recorded area can always be verified with the FOV calculator.

SAFETIS system components

The following thermal cameras are included in the SAFETIS system:

  • SAFETIS Outdoor – advanced protection for outdoor applications
  • SAFETIS Indoor – optimized for indoor use
  • SAFETIS Outdoor Pan-Tilt – advanced protection and extensive IP 67 coverage, plus a PTZ positioning system

The SAFETIS system also features two very special thermal cameras. First, there’s the SAFETIS Stainless Steel. Ensconced in a protective cover that preserves system integrity in industrial environments with highly corrosive substances, this camera is also ideal wherever aluminum is prohibited. It offers a high level of coverage in demanding outdoor settings.

Next comes the SAFETIS EX-proof, which is clothed in a specially modified shield that is specially designed for areas that have a high risk of explosion. The EX-proof is ATEX certified and meets the strictest safety standards.

Typical applications

The SAFETIS system is currently monitoring a wide variety of operations, including:

  • Industrial warehouses
  • Ammunition warehouses
  • Coal warehouses and conveyors
  • Power plants and electric energy distribution systems
  • Agricultural warehouses and food warehouses
  • ATEX environment
  • Depots and incineration plants and hazardous waste warehouses
  • Conveyor belts
  • Chemical and industrial plants
  • Cement plants
  • Monitoring of perimeters

SDK for custom application development

An SDK for integrating thermal camera into your devices is available. SAFETIS Ethernet SDK is a set of commands, intended to control the SAFETIS camera over the Ethernet connection without the need of a web browser. These commands are compatible with all models of the SAFETIS cameraunless stated otherwise.

The SAFETIS runs a TCP/IP server for the control. The opened server is similar to telnet protocol and can be usedwith telnet terminal software.

Safetis thermal cameras deliver rapid fire detection

SAFETIS thermal cameras operate on a simple principle: they detect fires through the continuous measurement of temperature changes. These cameras are equipped with custom-built algorithms that deliver advanced analyses of temperature trends. As a result, SAFETIS systems can alert operators to the mere risk of a flare-up, well before any fire has broken out. These cameras also eliminate false alarms by providing comprehensive thermal data for the recorded scene. The result is a highly accurate system that enables effective fire control by raising an alarm before smoke detectors and CCTV cameras have a chance to respond.

Three phases of fire detection

1. Gradual Heating
What happens right before a fire starts? While there may be no flame, a thermal camera can still see that something’s amiss. That’s because temperatures must rise for any material to combust. Even though smoke detectors won’t respond, the SAFETIS system will react.

2. Smoke Generation
Smoke follows heat, so phase two of any fire is visible to the naked eye – and to a smoke detector. However, once smoke rises, the risk of rapid combustion is very high. A reaction in phase two may be too late.

3. Flare-up
In this final phase, both fire and smoke are clearly evident. Today, both CCTV cameras and smoke detectors alert operators to flare-ups, but their alarms often come too late to avert the loss of life and property. That’s why the SAFETIS was designed to give safety pros a fighting chance at stopping a fire.
